Estimates, not advice
Every result on Foot & Yard is an estimate based on the measurements you enter and the assumptions shown on the page. Real materials vary: gravel density changes from quarry to quarry, bagged products change formulas, and ground is never perfectly flat. Allow for waste, confirm quantities with your supplier, and buy a little extra rather than too little.
Check your local codes
Where a page mentions a building code, such as the stair limits in the International Residential Code, it's a summary for planning. Your city or county may have adopted a different edition or local changes, and its requirements always take priority.
Structural work
Foundations, footings, retaining walls, load-bearing stairs, decks and anything else where a failure could hurt someone need to be designed or checked by a qualified professional, and may need a permit. The calculators count materials; they don't confirm that a design is safe.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and free of charge. We work hard to keep it accurate, but we can't guarantee that every result is right for your situation, and, to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from its use.

Links to suppliers and manufacturers are for reference. Some may be affiliate links, which pay us a commission at no cost to you. Prices you enter stay in your browser; we don't track or publish them.
